The Sea Gypsies (2019)

"Just beside the luxurious resorts on the island, there is a sordid and filthy village, which accommodates hundreds of Bajau Lauts, the Sea Gypsies. They used to live on the boat and travel between Malaysia, Indonesia and the Phillipines, but now they are restricted from living on the sea. Although this is the territory of Malaysian government, they are still not considered as its citizens."
I was commissioned by RTHK to make a documentary about this group of boat people in Malaysia. I also do the underwater filming in this project.
